Some guests note limited seating, particularly during busy hours, which can lead to longer wait times. A few reviews mention that the casual dining setup may not suit diners seeking a more formal meal experience. These limitations, coupled with high demand on Fridays, sometimes lead to sold-out items, disappointing those hoping for popular choices like rag pudding and spam fritters. Additionally, while vegetarian options are offered, some customers feel the variety could expand further for plant-based diners.
It’s my favourite 🤩 chippy place! As a Ukrainian living in Manchester for a few years now, I wanted to find the real authentic classic fish and ship place and I’ve been recommended to try this one, it’s my favourite now! Lovely fish, I fancy mashed peas 🫛 and ships are good 😌 yummy 🤤 plus pleasant people working here 🤩🤩
This has become our regular fish and chips shop on Friday evening, the food is absolutely cooked to perfection and the staff are the most pleasant of people considering the pressure they are under, this is definitely the best chippy in leigh and surrounding areas and we have tried them all.
Lived in Leigh of and on for 13 years and never been in. Wow I’ve been missing out best chippy I’ve been in for ages. Great food (best crispy fresh fried chips). Lovely people offered to batter a haggis for me if I brought one in will definitely come back. Even my girlfriend who’s not a chippy fan was impressed. Good to see that they aren’t offering pizza and kebabs. Just do the basics well
Oh my goodness! Cannot believe we have never tried this chippy before. It was recommended by someone and well..... it definitely did not disappoint, in fact completely exceeded expectations! The staff (didn't catch their names) 2 men, were so friendly and attentive, never experienced such amazing service in a chippy before. Now to the food, which was very reasonably priced. We had the fish, rag pudding, Spam fritter, chips, curry and gravy between my partner and our little boy (our little boy who didn't want anything and then cleared MY plate! 😆) The food quality was amazing, it was hot and fresh. The curry and gravy were both the best I've ever tried too, not to mention all the different flavours homemade salt seasonings! We will 100% be returning and recommending to others. Thank you Butts Bridge Chippy for such an enjoyable tea! 😋
I have been a customer for some years. Peter, Dave and staff offer a first class product and friendly service at a fair price. Recommended.
First visit here today as don't go chippy all that often and was not disappointed. The staff were proper nice, the portions were spot on and the food was really absolutely top drawer. Thank you for a quality good Friday chippy tea.
Since I discovered this little chippy over 12 months ago, i use it as a benchmark for any other i might visit. Fish barm is delicious, with a few mushy peas on as a treat,only£4.20,and i got a sample of chips, which were very nice indeed. Its worth going out of your way to visit
